Foodics Online Menu Sync V2
Overview
We have upgraded the way your Foodics Online menu syncs with your Foodics POS (RMS). Your menu looks and works the same, but syncing is now faster, more consistent, and more reliable.
What’s Improved
- New Sync POS+ button: merchants on Menu Sync V2 will see a new Sync POS+ button in their Online portal.
- Much faster syncs for large menus: large menus that used to take over an hour, or fail, now sync in under 2 minutes.
- Fewer order failures: better consistency between your POS and Online reduces menu mismatches that could cause orders to fail.
- Categories stay in sync: categories are no longer dropped or skipped during a sync.
- Menu group toggles work correctly: turning items on or off inside a menu group now applies every time a sync runs.
- Stable combo items: options inside combo meals no longer disappear after a sync.
- Faster issue resolution: if a sync issue happens, our team can now identify and fix it much faster.
How Menu Sync Works
Your POS (RMS) is the main source of your menu, and your Online menu mirrors it. To change your menu, always make the change in your POS. If you edit something directly in Online, the next sync may overwrite it to match your POS (see Keeping Your Online Edits below).
When the sync runs
- When you press Sync POS+.
- The sync runs in the background and shows its status: Pending → In Progress → Successful / Failed.
- The same menu cannot sync twice at the same time.
Two ways your Online menu can be built
- Standard menu: Online shows your full menu, organized by category.
- Menu group: Online shows one specific menu group from your POS. Only the items inside that group appear to customers.
What Syncs and What to Expect
Categories
- Every category in your POS appears in Online. If a category was hidden or removed in Online, the next sync restores it.
- A category deleted from your POS is removed from Online.
- Empty categories (with no items available for sale) are not shown online.
Products
- Item availability follows your POS: an item that is inactive in the POS is unavailable online.
- Size variants are combined: for example, "Small Latte", "Medium Latte", and "Large Latte" added to a combo or sub-group appear online as one item, "Latte", with a size selection.
- Open-price items (where the price is entered at the cashier) are not shown online, as they have no fixed price.
- An item removed from your POS is removed from Online on the next sync.
Combos
- A combo in your POS appears online as a combo item with its components and options.
- If a combo option is not on your visible menu, it still works inside the combo but is not sold on its own.
- Each combo option keeps its own display name, even if the original item has a different name.
- Options removed from the combo in your POS are removed online on the next sync.
Modifiers
- Modifier options and prices follow your POS.
- The same modifier group can be used on multiple items, each with its own minimum and maximum selection rules.
Prices and branch availability
- Prices come from your POS and can be different per branch.
- Items can be turned off or marked out of stock for specific branches. They won't be available to order at those branches, but remain available at others.
Languages
Item names, category names, and descriptions sync in all your configured languages. If a translation is missing, the main language is shown.
Why Is an Item Not Showing Online?
| If the item... | Then... |
| Is inactive in the POS | It is unavailable online |
| Is turned off inside the selected menu group | It is hidden from that menu |
| Is out of stock or turned off at a branch | It cannot be ordered at that branch |
| Is an open-price item | It is not shown online |
| Is in a category with no other items for sale | The category is not shown |
| Was deleted from the POS | It is removed from Online |
| Exists only as a combo option | It works inside the combo but is not sold on its own |
Keeping Your Online Edits (Selective Field Sync)
You can choose which details are updated from your POS on every sync, so you can customize names, images, or descriptions for your online store while keeping prices and availability linked to your POS.
Path: Online > Settings > Integrations > Foodics F5
- New items: all details are taken from your POS when the item is first created online.
- Existing items: a detail is updated only if it is selected in your sync settings. Otherwise, your Online changes are kept.
| Detail | Sync behavior |
| Name, calories, images, description | Updated only if enabled in your sync settings |
| Price, tax, branch availability | Always follow your POS |
| Sort order and placeholder images | Updated only if empty in Online |
Frequently Asked Questions
I changed my menu in the POS, but Online hasn't updated.
Wait for the sync to complete, or press Sync POS+. Each sync takes a short time to finish.
My edit in Online disappeared.
Your POS is the main source, so details set to sync are updated from the POS every time. Make the change in your POS instead, or turn off syncing for that detail in your sync settings (see Keeping Your Online Edits above).
A combo option shows a different name than the original item.
This is expected. Combo options keep their own display names.
