Foodics Online Menu UI Upgrade
Overview
The menu area in your Foodics Online portal has been redesigned to make managing your menu clearer and faster. Your menu is organized in a simple structure: menus contain categories, categories contain items, and items can have modifier groups, allergens, ingredients, and availability schedules.
What's New
- Clearer navigation: breadcrumbs, names, and images show exactly which menu, category, or item you are in.
- List and Grid views: switch between a list view and a grid view on every screen.
- Enabled/Disabled filters: quickly find items that are live or switched off.
- Drag-and-drop sorting: reorder menus, categories, items, and modifier options easily.
- Change logs: see a full history of changes made to categories, items, and modifier groups.
- Publish status: see when your changes were last published.
Note: User roles and permissions for the menu remain the same as before.
Menus
From the left sidebar, select Menus V2 to open your menus list. A menu is the main container for everything your customers can order. Most businesses have one menu, but you can have more, for example a main menu and a separate delivery menu.
Add a menu
- Select New Menu.
- Enter the menu name.
- Select Save.
The new menu starts empty. Its categories and items are added from your POS.
Delete a menu
Select the red bin icon next to the menu, then confirm. Deleting a menu removes it from your online store.
Hard Reset a menu
Hard Reset clears the menu and rebuilds it from your POS. Use it only if your online menu does not match your POS and a normal sync did not fix it.
Important: Hard Reset cannot be undone. Any changes made only in Online for that menu will be lost.
Categories
Open a menu to see its categories, such as Hot Drinks or Desserts. The order shown here is the order your customers will see.
Each category has three actions:
- Edit: opens the category details.
- Delete: removes the category.
- Eye icon: turns the category off for online ordering without deleting it. This is the best option when something is temporarily unavailable.
Switch between List and Grid view
Use the two icons on the right. Grid view is useful for checking that every category has the correct image.
View disabled categories
Use the eye icons to filter between live categories and disabled ones. This is how you find a category you turned off earlier and want to bring back.
Reorder categories
- Select Sort Categories.
- Drag the categories into the order you want.
- Select Save Sorting, then publish.
Customers will not see the new order until you save and publish.
Deleting a category
Deleting a category asks for confirmation and removes it along with its place in the menu.
Upsells
Select Upsells to choose items that will be suggested to customers while they order. This is a great place to promote high-margin or seasonal products.
- Search for the item.
- Select Add.
- To remove an upsell, select the bin icon on its card.
Working with a Category
Opening a category shows its image and name at the top, with delete and disable actions, and five tabs:
Items
Lists the items in the category with their prices. You can sort items, filter by enabled or disabled, and switch between list and grid view. Grid view is the quickest way to spot a missing image before you publish.
If a category shows no items, it may not have synced from your POS yet.
Custom Fields
Add extra information to the category beyond its name and image. Select Add Custom Field to create one.
Time Events
Control when the category is available:
- Enter a name, start date, and end date.
- Choose the type.
- Set the available hours for each day of the week.
For example, use this for a breakfast category that only shows in the morning, or a seasonal category that switches off automatically.
Change Logs
Shows every change made to the category, including the old and new values, who made the change, and when.
Update Category
Edit the category's names (English and Arabic), description, and image. Save your changes, then publish to make them live.
Working with an Item
The item screen shows the item's image and name at the top, followed by eight tabs:
| Tab | What it does |
| Modifier Groups | Choices the customer makes when ordering, such as size or milk type. You can reorder them so the most important choice appears first. |
| Item Ingredients | Records what goes into the item and in what quantity. Used for stock tracking and not shown to customers. |
| Allergens | Allergens shown to customers. Select Add Allergen to add one, or the bin icon to remove it. Review this list whenever a recipe changes. |
| Custom Fields | Extra information you want to keep with the item. |
| Time Events | Set the hours when the item is available, in the same way as category time events. |
| Combo Components | For combo or meal items, lists the parts the customer chooses from (e.g. a drink and a side). For non-combo items, this list is empty, which is normal. |
| Update Item | Edit the item's names, descriptions, price, calories, and where it is sold, including branches and ordering channels. |
| Change Logs | Full history of changes made to the item. |
Tip: To turn off an item for one branch only, use the Update Item tab instead of disabling the item everywhere.
Modifier Groups
Modifier groups are the choices a customer makes when ordering this item, such as size or milk type. This tab lists the groups attached to the item, and you can reorder them so the most important choice appears first. Select a group to manage its options.
Item Ingredients
Ingredients record what goes into the item and in what quantity. This drives stock tracking rather than anything the customer sees.
Allergens
Allergens are shown to customers, so this tab matters for compliance as well as trust. Select Add Allergen to attach one, and the bin icon to remove it. Review this list whenever a recipe changes.
Custom Fields
As with categories, custom fields hold extra item information you want to keep alongside the product.
Time Events
Item-level time events work exactly like category ones, but apply to the single item. Use them for products that are only sold at certain hours.
Combo Components
If the item is a combo or meal deal, this tab lists the parts a customer chooses between, such as a drink and a side. Items that are not combos show an empty list here, which is normal.
Update Item
The update form is the largest in the menu area. It covers the item’s names and descriptions, its price and calories, and where it is sold, including which branches and which ordering channels. Turning an item off for a single branch is done here rather than by disabling the item everywhere.
Change Logs
A full audit trail for the item, in the same format as the category log.
Modifier groups and options
Opening a modifier group from an item shows the individual options inside it. A group called Coffee Sizes might hold options for small, medium and large, each with its own price adjustment.
Modifier options
The options list shows each option with its price. You can reorder options so they appear in a sensible sequence for the customer, and enable or disable individual options when something runs out.
Grid view is available here too.
Update Modifier Group
This form controls how the group behaves as a choice: its name, and the minimum and maximum number of options a customer must pick. Setting a minimum of one makes the choice mandatory; raising the maximum lets customers select several.
Change Logs
